Recall taste of
few edible substances |
|
First PT will
ask a riddle to students, after getting response from the student. Yes Lemon
is the correct answer.
Lemon is one of
the edible substance we use in our daily life. Like lemon We use large number
of edible substances. Pt will further enquiry :
“Do they have
same taste”?
After getting
response Pt will say so Lets recall about the taste of few substances and you
have to guess Are they taste sour, bitter, salty.
After getting
response from the students PT will further indulge students in enquiry and
brainstorm do they know??
“Why all these
substances taste sour”?
Students will
become curious about the topic further.
After getting
response from students. PT will
announce the topic, Well students,
Today we will try to learn
Why all these
substances taste sour? |
Inquiry
approach
Riddle is used
by Pt to link the topic with previous knowledge. Question
ask by Pt will help students to recall
about various taste that they studied in their previous classes.
Inquiry Approach

Comprehend term acid |
|
Pt will say,
Lemon, orange
are citrus fruits because they contain citrus acid.
Tomato ketchup
is made from tomato which taste sour due to the presence of oxalic acids.
Curd taste sour
due to the presence of lactic or milk acid. Now, students
will you try to frame definition of acid. Then Pt will explain
Lemon, Orange,
Tamarind , Curd all these taste sour due to different acids. With the help of the students pupil teacher
will frame the define of Acid.
“ The
substances that are sour in taste are called acids.”
Now Pt will ask
are you people know about some properties of acid?
Now PT will say
all acids contain hydrogen. “is this
statement true or false”?
Some say yes
whereas some say no. After getting
responses from students Pt will explain with the help of an example of water
and sodium hydroxide.
And said acids
contain replaceable hydrogen, means when it reacts with water releases
Hydrogen ion.
Then Pt will
say this our first property of acid that acid contains replaceable hydrogen.
Now Pt will
demonstrate an activity by dissolving lemon juice in water and ask student
try to form hypothesis.
Then after
taking responses from the students Pt will explain this is our second
property of acid that it is dissolve in water.
So lets find
out some more properties of acids with
the help of an activity. Both Pt and
students will discuss and start demonstrating an activity.
Pt will
demonstrate an activity by dipping the ends of circuit in lemon juice and ask
from students what do you infer from it?
Students will
say lemon juice conducts electricity.
Pt will say yes
students “this is another property of acids that it conducts electricity”. |
Explain topic
with the help of image in order to provide better version of learning.
Relate with
example provide better clarity to the students.
Frame define
with the help of students built hypothetical skills.
Lecture cum
Demonstration method
Demonstration
helps in developing better concept and also built analytical skills.
Demonstrati on method
Scientific
skills develop by live demonstration and also Generate curiosity
|
Exploring skill |
|
Associate Different acids
contain by different substances. |
|
Pt will show a
matching activity and ask students to help me out in matching different acids
contain by different substances.
After getting
responses Pt will say well students these some basic acids in which we deal
everyday.
|
Activity is
used by Pt to increase the curiosity among students. |
Scientific
skill |
|
Discuss Two different
type of Acids. |
|
Pt will explain
that there are two type of acids;
1. Organic Acid 2. Mineral Acid
Acids that are
found in plants and animals are called organic acids. e.g.: citrus
acid, Lactic acid, Formic Acid.
Acids prepared
from the minerals of the earth are called mineral acids.
HCL,

To create
interesting environment in the class. |
Listening skill |
|
Illustrate Several
precautions |
|
After
explaining types of acids, Pt will show some images to student and ask them
to carefully observe them. Now Pt will ask
What do you infer from these two images. After getting
responses Pt will start illustrate about the precautions while handling with
acids.
Never handled
with bare hands or tasted.
Always add acid
in water not water in acid.
Always wear
proper equipment while dealing with an acids. |
Inquiry approach
Image help
student for better understanding of process.
To enhance the observation
skills of students Pt will show images. |
Observational
skills |
For recapitulation Pt will select some points based
acids and some are not then Pt will ask students to select appropriate points
and insert them on this given circle.

Extension of Learning '
Pt will ask students
1. To make a list of at least 10edible substances which
contain acid?
2. Are acids always evil. Justify your answer
